Zephyr Rankin Marketing and Communications Librarian

Coming from a long line of educators, Zephyr Rankin was practically raised in school environments. They earned their bachelor's degree in sociology at A&M-Commerce in 2018. Although they loved the program and learned a lot, they discovered a passion for library science after accepting a library job in Kansas City, Missouri.
Determined to turn that passion into a career, Zephyr attended Emporia State University in Kansas to earn a master's degree in library and information science.
Zephyr accomplished their goal as a library associate in the Resource Acquisition and Discovery department at the Velma K. Waters Library at A&M-Commerce. With a lifelong passion for education, their ultimate goal is to work in research and instruction to help people use the library most effectively.
How I Can Help You
I help students at A&M-Commerce by cataloging items and quality-checking our collections. I also work with our electronic resources manager to make sure all our databases and other electronic resources are easy to navigate, everything is accessible, and our researchers aren't hitting any roadblocks trying to find their sources.

What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending A&M-Commerce?
This is an excellent school. I came here to get my bachelor's degree. The professors, faculty and staff are all wonderful people, and I had great relationships with them. After leaving for four years and returning to work here, many professors, faculty and staff still remember me.
What do you like most about your career?
The best thing about working in the library is knowing how much our work helps others. I come from a background in public libraries where I helped people in my community access the information they needed and learn new things. Now, as a library associate at the Velma K. Waters Library, I support our community of students, faculty and staff. Information is an invaluable resource for everyone. I want to ensure as many people as possible can access whatever information they may need.
